Aussie Rules Footy

Tonight I’m going to check out a local AFL team play here in Seattle. The Seattle Grizzlies (@seattlefooty) are in the beginning of their season this year – it’s exciting to see some aussie rules footy fire up again over here. Towards the end of last season I went out & took some photos for...

Seattle Public Library – Not What You’d Expect!

If you’ve never been to Seattle, our public library smack-bang in the middle of downtown is a sight to behold. It’s a modern, state-of-the-art building both inside and out… and certainly looks the part. I’ve always wanted to photograph it at length, but have never really spent a lot of time there. On my way...

The Time Has Come

Those of you who know me or have been shooting with me know that I’ve always shot with modest gear. In the time I’ve spent learning the art of photography I’ve always thought that being a good photographer isn’t about the camera and lens you’re holding in your hands — it’s simply all about you,...

One Rainy Saturday

It’s been a while since I’ve been out shooting and it certainly is not by choice. I’ve been pretty swamped these last couple of weeks with work and finalising some upcoming travel plans, but finally I had some time yesterday to walk around the city of Seattle for some urban photography. I pretty much covered...

Proving (or disproving) A Point

About 4 months ago, I booked a flight to San Francisco and accommodation for 4 nights spanning last weekend. While I’ve always wanted to go to and visit this iconic city in America, I’ve seen so many images of the city and its landmarks that I got really excited about photographing it. The more and more I read about photography and dream about what camera I may purchase next, or what lens to upgrade to, the more I feel like it’s all a bunch of marketing ploys to get consumers to spend money. Yes, these companies are in the business for a reason like any other company out there and let’s be honest, they’re doing very well. Something just seems fishy to me about it all though.

Just how much of the work that goes into a photograph is the camera? As a photographer, I like to think that I can remove one camera from my camera bag, and drop in another and capture the same image to convey the message within the image. It dawned on me that the only way for me to prove the point of “The camera is irrelevant – People take good photographs, not cameras” that we all hear so often was to actually try it for myself.

April Wallpaper

This month saw a very early bloom of the Cherry Blossoms around Seattle. As I did last year, I ventured up to UW to capture where I feel is the best place to experience these trees in full bloom. This year though, I went at sunrise – before the crowds filled in the quad. It...
